Welcome to the best student organized website about The Civil War ever made in these Union (and Confederate) states of America. I believe this war was really the turning point of our history. It put brother against brother and father against son. It all started when President Lincoln was elected as the 16th president of these United states. The South was deeply irritated and one by one started to secede from the Union and formed their own country called The Confederate States of America. The first battle that officially started the civil war was The Battle at Fort Sumter. This battle frustrated Lincoln and war was declared. The Union and Confederate had quicky devised war stratagies.The one that favored the North was Known as the Anaconda Plan. For the South it was the King Cotton Diplomacy. In the Anaconda Plan the Union would "sqeeze" the Confederacy to death,causing them to split in two. The King Cotton Diplomacy was when the countries that relied on the Confederates to supply cotton (such as Great Britian) were supposed to support the Confederates to keep their cotton supply at a maximum.
